This may not be the best place to ask, but I was listening to Sandy sing the Quiet Joys of Brotherhood from No More Sad Refrains: The Anthology taken from the album Sandy. I'm curious if Sandy overdubbed the vocals where we hear two voices, or if Linda Thompson (credited Peters) is singing backup? I suppose it's rude to ask if folk singers overdub. Sorry.

Thanks for your comment, Strangerland. Sandy multiply overdubbed her own vocals on that track - no other singer involved. She said later that the arrangement was inspired by the Ensemble of the Bulgarian Republic, whose recordings were very popular in the Sixties (see John Martyn, Paul Simon et al). I don't think she was at all precious about overdubbing; her recording techniques probably owed more to rock than to folk purists. P
